Callassa's HOT year!
Rock and Roll. Hells Angels and Royal Enfields...
Great Britain and the 1970s come alive again. It's 2010. The Chippers are a Rock and Roll
Band. They are a throwback to the 1970s era, when British bands reigned
supreme. The Chippers live in Little Hampton, a small town of terraced
houses, the led astray, numerous gangsters, Satanists, other anti-socialites of
varying degree and the many, associated goings-on. It's a dangerous and
infamous place, stationary in time, but the atmosphere contains pure
magic. (No one goes there unless they have to). In an upstairs room at
the Old Lantern pub, there's a great ambition raging aflame. There are
four guys who call themselves The Chippers. They've matured from throwing
eggs at people (their trade mark of younger days), from riding their
Royal Enfields across the North Yorkshire moors (they are Hells
Angels), to playing rock and roll. Their music has unique flavor. They
just have to get it all together. Mick Helmsley is lead vocals. Terry
Culzean plays lead guitar. Balthazaar Blackness plays percussion and
Pete Kenilworth is the keyboard and bass player.
The book is about
their many tribulations. It's about living somewhere like Little
Hampton and receiving support from the local fraternity of like minds.
They being as fascinating as the band! Hey and I just forgot, there's
Candida Johnson, Mick's schizophrenic and devastating girlfriend.

Note:
The Chippers are 'Yorkshire lads' at their most raw. The book is
written in the vernacular. It's therefore not suitable for the under
17s. Nor is it suitable for the faint hearted.
PS. Love, love, loved this book. Yorkshire forever! Rock and Roll! That gig at the end, electric in more ways than one. Who would do that to somebody on stage? It's just terrible! DMC
