Translation from the Latin text
.
‘Shhhh, my earthly beauty. See the streams and how they extend from one celestial body to the next. I am these streams and I flow as universal rainbows while you my adored one, walk beside me. I am your birthing moment again and again and again, into the eternity I can ne’er describe.’
CALLASSA AELIA PULCHERIA
.
Callassa and her dearest darling and earthly boy are together in the most intimate space Aelia Pulcheria, close to the celestial body of….. of, it is of no matter.
.
The Goddess had become prepared and her ring of hair arranged to her liking above her head, she shunted me to prepare, all the while with me being within her sight. There had been no turning from her as it was her will. Though now and for the first time, she was standing behind me as I sat and we waited for the delivery of the food and wine by space flight ordered to be sent from the picture unfading. She was stroking my forehead with her fingertips and whispering poetry in my ear. Her words were lulling me as did the sea breeze and together, these natural treasures were the perfect complement of each other. She began to sing and it made me feel that her voice had become that very breeze. It was a warming and embracing sensation and for this, it was truly wonderful for me:
“I see moonlit hands, as they stroke the Sun-warmed sands, And far away there are specks growing in twilight’s ocean waters, Beckoning women, Neptune’s daughters,
But at the sea bed, await embraces with those never dead, With the Nereids, who swim, just as it is said,
While written upon tidal-winged sands by the angel’s finger, As do all nights of half-light, above the oceans linger.”
I began to feel as though I were an element in her ethereal combination, of sensual words and their graceful motions. I was being carried upon waves of sparkling silver and they were supportive, guiding me on into an awareness of beauty and of surety, an awareness that forthwith became moving emotion. Her voice began gently leading me away from the ether of love. I opened my eyes to see a slight mist and was very conscious of the fact that she was still standing behind me and her fingertips were softly pressing upon my brow.
.
“I foretold, my most splendid Roman, my darling boy, that I shall cling to you, now and forever in the completeness of love. You have no choice in this because I am to remain this way as long as you do not ask me for explanation. You will want to do so, I know that you will. Yes, but I am dwelling with you, so I shall not respond.”
“Well, please tell me Callassa, can you take thoughts from my mind?” I had been wanting to ask her this question.
She didn’t answer and the silence that began to ensue bothered me. Her fingers had also released themselves a little as they were pressing above my eyes.
This time she allowed me to turn. When I did she was staring with the most intense eye. Her stare contained what I felt was inordinate love and fascination intertwined. There was a hint of a smile, but it was from her eyes that beamed an unfeigned and limitless revering for me. Its effect made me try and move physically away, because it was far, far too much to bear. She was entrenching me in a power into which my reactions were of those never felt before. She continued to intoxicate me and with very little strength I began asking myself whether I were really dead and all of this was a creation of what human life never knows? Human life could never be graced by such unfettered desiring, such imbuing with meaning, seeped in the glory of absolute beauty. No, it could not.
.
How could I be the preferred, nay the idolised suitor to someone of her enormity? Once again, my reasoning was seeped in total inadequacy, which it was where it would remain.
“Do you feel it, my darling boy?” she asked me. “Do you?”
Now it was my turn not to answer because she was alluding to the subject of the inner questioning of which I had just been engaged. Indeed, I was ‘feeling’ her and she really was the more of all mores, a sweeping into my world of a goddess from a garden of universal blooms and she was a reflection of their combined majesty. This was no exaggeration.
“On account of my holding your attention, my adored one, my darling Roman, I think that we should walk together now that the evening time has become misted.”
