Callassa is the voice of England
and in its surging intensity and force does kindle the cosmos with a particular beauty
Words are by Callassa and read by the English actor Philip Hurd-Wood
.
Softly and while continuing her smile, she said, “The crimson I planted,
the white and the cypress, will be closer when we return.”
“Marianna, this part of the world has those colours too, but they feel different to me.
I think I know why. You planted the others.”
She offered no response. Her mind was in England and at the mansion.
I was thinking of her plants, now wandering wildly over the frontage.
Their colour was more obvious during the evening when the lights were switched on,
their colour appearing against the backdrop of Victorian red brick and stone.
